Kayaking in Hornafjördur is a great way for your getaway to a peaceful and nursing outdoor activity. A vivid bird life, glacier view and black sand beaches create an unforgettable experience in the back yard of the beautiful fishing village of Höfn. Höfn Local Guide offers small group kayak tours in Hornafjörður in a two-person kayak, embarking from the old pier in Ósland. Your leisurely paddle among the small islands of Hornafjörður might get the harbor seals of the fjord curious enough to pay you a visit and when weather allows, you will take land on the amazing Suðurfjörur sandbank. On the black sand, or on a small island you will get an opportunity to taste some local snacks before paddling back to Ósland.

No experience in paddling is required for Höfn Local Guide's kayak tours, they are suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers form the age of 14. Paddlers need to be in a reasonably good physical shape for this tour.

The tours are highly weather depended, and the wind velocity can prevent a paddle. To start a tour on a fixed time is not an option as the sea tide sets the time for embarkment, so please contact us for information about the start of your kayak tour.

If a tour needs to be cancelled due to weather conditions, guests will be informed the day before, or on the morning of the paddle. Full refund will be given if that happens, another on-land tour
offered or an option to reschedule kayak tour for another day.

Included
Professional travel guidance in English, birdlife and leisurely physical activities. You will be supplied with a two-person sit-on-top kayak that is built for stability, a two pice dry suite, float jacket, paddle and a small dry-bag to store your important items.

Be sure to were warm, soft clothes for the dry suite (how warm is always depending on the weather bur always were warm socks). Local, simple food experience on a black sand beach.
